Classics Challenge

I mentioned in a recent BTT post that I was behind in reading the classics. This challenge is a perfect way to make time to read them! The Classics Challenge is hosted by Trish.
There are different levels to this challenge and I am choosing Classics Snack, which is 4 classics. I am also hoping to complete the bonus of reading a modern classic.

My tentative list:

1. My Antonia by Willa Cather (review), audio
2. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (review coming soon)
3. The Pearl by John Steinbeck (review coming soon)
4.

I am open to suggestions, so what is your favorite classic?

What about something by Steinbeck? Of Mice and Men or The Grapes of Wrath?

I love Steinbeck! I've read Of Mice and Men but might give The Grapes of Wrath a try. Thanks for the rec.

I really liked The Moonstone by Wilke Collins, deemed the first mystery thriller. I have only read Pride & Prejudice (I intend to read more J.A. with this challenge) and I absolutely adored it. Loved the movie too. I'm so glad you decided to take on this challenge with us!

I'm doing the snack this year too. Glad you joined up. Have you ever read To Kill a Mockingbird or Jane Eyre?

Sandy: I'll have to look up The Moonstone. It's not one I know.

Dar: I love To Kill a Mockingbird. I've re-read it many times, but never read Jane Eyre.

Anything Jane Austen is awesome :) P&P is my fave, but I also adore Persuasion.

I also think most of Charles Dickens's books make for pretty good reading :)

Thanks for signing up Melissa! I can't wait to see what you finally settle on. I second what the other say about Jane Eyre. Also, I saw The Moonstone mentioned--Collins' other book The Woman in White is great (although a little longish). Happy reading!

Not sure if you have chosen a third book for your challenge, I just came across your blog a little late in the game...

Have you read Sidhartha by Herman Hesse? It is a great read, and based on your style I am sure you would love it.
